GREAT HELM
Common throughout the 13th and 14th century this is probably one of the most recognizable of all medieval helms. Great helms were commonly worn over top of a maille coif and later over top of a cerevelle (small bascinet). Although the Great Helm was eventually replaced by the bascinet for use in battle in the 15th century, for a time it continued to see service as a jousting helm due to its heavy duty construction and strong face-plate.
Construction: 14 guage mild steel and assembled with solid steel rivets.
